A very popular and traditional side dish in the south during American holidays made with plain sweet potatoes blended with cinnamon, evaporated milk, condensed milk, vanilla, ground clover, allspice, ground ginger, eggs, lemon zests, lemon juice then baked at 350 degrees F for almost an hour. This dish is great as dessert for me especially if topped with candied pecans, whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Harvested from my mni garden, these potatoes are so bright orange and just fit the autumn weather. Thus, it saved me 88 cents a pound or more. Yeah!
Bring to boil, then simmer until cooked. |
Scoop the flesh and transfer to a bowl |
Evaporated milk, condensed milk, egg, lemon juice and the dry seasonings |
Mix all the ingredients except the pie crust. Blend well. |
Until fine. |
Brown the prepared pie in the oven for 5 minutes. Brush with beaten egg whites. |
Mix 1 tsp of cinnamon and pure cane sugar |

Topped with mixed ground cinnamon and pure cane sugar. | Broil for 5 minutes |
Cool for 4 hours and serve. You may topped with candied pecans, whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. |
