Easy and affordable dish for small or big crowds. Mix the commercial brand seasoning such as McCormick's to my favorite one and some salsa to the ground beef, cook for few minutes, prepare the lettuce, tomatoes and cheese and you are set to eat.
Ingredients:
1/2 lb lean ground beef
1 clove garlic - crushed and chopped
2 tbsp McCormick's Taco Seasoning
1/2 tsp hot sauce
1/2 tsp Steak seasoning - no salt. I use Ralph's brand
6 tbsp cooking oil
dash of ground pepper
1/3 cup water (optional)
1 cup shredded lettuce
1 cup chopped and diced fresh tomatoes
1 cup shredded cheese
1/2 cup salsa
3 or more taco shells
Directions:
1. Heat the pan over high heat and saute the garlic until brown. Remove the cooked garlic.
2. Turn the heat to medium heat and place the ground beef in the pan, cook until brown. Break them up into tiny pieces. You may add the water as this helps breaking them down. If you prefer fine ground beef, use a food processor. Drain the fat and discard.
3. Add the hot sauce, steak seasoning, ground pepper, salsa and the taco seasoning.
4. Stir to blend all the ingredients. Mix until well blended.
5. Turn heat to low to keep it warm before serving.
How to cook the taco shells.
1. Heat the pan over high heat.
2. Add the oil.
3. Slowly dip the shell into the hot oil and cook each side for 10-15 seconds.
4. Drain in the pan, then place in a piece of paper towel. Click if you want baked taco shells.
How to layer the taco:
It is always your choice on how you want your taco done, but here's how I dress mine.
1. Add the cooked ground meat.
2. Add the shredded lettuce.
3. Add the diced tomatoes.
4. Add the grated cheese.
5. Add the salsa.
6. Add other toppings of your choice - sour cream, avocado, hot sauce, etc.
